I’m still around

I haven’t forgotten the site, and I still have some big plans for the future. So far this year (mid-Jan onward) has been dominated by a series of medical issues. (Not only keeping me out of the water but keeping me off my feet, and eating up all my non-real-job time.) In theory we’re (again) in the final stages of all that, so keep an eye out (or just grab the rss feed) for a bit of refocusing and some new content. (And maybe even a trip or two to be planned..)

If anyone has questions, suggestions, good wishes, etc post a comment below. (You must be logged in to post comments – keeps spam to a minimum.)

New Software (Again)

Jeep Jeep

I finally gave in and switched to WordPress. Part of why I haven’t been posting recently (..ok, its been about 5 months) is the old interface and the constant need to update Drupal. Unfortunately, accounts haven’t been migrated over, so you’ll need to reregister. The good news is its much easier to post now, so I should have something up every few days. (And I can queue posts ahead of time when I expect to be busy, yay..)

We’re Back

In all senses of the word. We didn’t go to Pensacola but we had a decent time in Folly Beach, SC instead. It was a good break from life for a while, and a nice chance to get unplugged from email/web/work/etc. Also, as you probably noticed, the site is back and functioning. (Due to some purely non-technical policies, the back of the house is basically covered in Verizon fios boxes. They won’t do static IP on any residential lines, period, and they won’t give residential-class tv/phone on a business account, so there are now two fiber lines – and associated hardware – on and in the house. Oh, and they won’t unblock port 80 on non-static accounts.)

OK, I lied earlier, the .mobi version should be working fine now. So you can also visit us from your portable device of choice at http://scubafriends.mobi/ or http://letsdive.mobi. :)

Update (Feb 9, 2008): With the new software, any of the URLs should automatically redirect to the mobile version on mobile devices.

Trip and Site Update

So we’ve been down a while because Verizon FIOS filters port 80 (sigh) but I’ve got a hack in place until the upgrade to full service. (That’ll be next Thursday.) We aren’t going on the Oriskany trip – Sie came down with my sinus infection and won’t be able to dive. Instead we’re going to spend the weekend at Folly Beach. And we’ve got some site news after the break.

Registrations were broken and I didn’t get it fixed until now. Its fixed. So if you registered, and it didn’t work, do it again and it’ll be fine. In other news, we just got back from a couple days at the beach to celebrate my birthday. Good times, we’ll prolly go back. Dunno about diving locally though.

We’re in Savannah this morning, and about to head out to do some siteseeing. Yesterday’s adventure through Myrtle Beach was fun, and the Hard Rock there is a must-see. Tomorrow we leave for Vero Beach and a lovely dinner at the Ocean Grill. Weather and location permitting, we’ll try to start diving in Vero Beach (nice morning trip before we go to Canaveral) and I’ll post lots of pics.

Site news: If my network access holds out on the drive to Vero, I’m going to switch software again. The current setup for the site just plain doesn’t work (nobody can post pics, news, etc) and I have one that does, its just not themed properly (so its somewhat ugly.) I’ll try to put it into place tomorrow during the drive. Usernames and passwords won’t change, so no worries there.
