We reported on a similar story (before the site update, unfortunately) but it seem the first diving-related death has occurred on the Oriskany.
Updated: The comments section of the Pensacola News Journal article has a post from someone claiming to have been present on the H2O at the time. The details (such as they are) are below.

Florida Today is reporting that an as-yet-unnamed diver surfaced with difficulty breathing and faded in and out of consciousness. The Coast Guard met the dive boat ( H2O Below) just outside Pensacola, and the victim was taken via helicopter to Baptist Hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead. More details as they become available. (We’re not changing our plans, unless Hurricane Dean stirs up the Gulf a little too much.)

Update: The person claiming to have been on board reports that the diver was a very experienced technical diver, part of a pair diving with rebreathers for their second day on the wreck. He seemed ok while hanging at 20′, but passed out when he got to the boat. Leaving aside some medical details ( HIPAA) it sounds like he had immediate expert care on a well-equipped dive boat.
